Phase ? - The Rest of the House

The Main Bathroom

We got most of this done in the previous chapter. Due to her disability and a son's zeal for protecting his mother, we converted the bathtub to a shower and installed a new toilet. The vanity cabinet still needs to be replaced as it was never a very good example. I plan to add a real granite top and and would like one of those separate bowl lavatories. The floor was tiled with good ceramic tile several years ago and it is still in pretty good condition although there is one cracked tile. There is still some interest in replacing it with something a bit fancier though.

Master Bedroom

The major bathroom remodel interrupted work on the master bedroom. That's my story and I'm sticking with it. We got the closet almost finished and occupied. But work on the bedroom stopped at least for a while. I still need to remove the old closet walls and carpet and lay the new laminate flooring that we have been storing for a couple of years now.

Rest of the Bedroom Wing / Bedroom, Study & Hall

We have not started this project yet either. It comes after the master bedroom. There is also a plan for it, however. I originally wanted to remove all the sheetrock so the walls can be properly insulated and new wiring installed. I think I am a little "long in the tooth" to begin such a major project at this time, however. The ceiling will not be raised. The carpet in the office (center bedroom) and the vinyl tile in the front bedroom will be replaced with the same laminate flooring. The electrical wiring will not be upgraded but I will at least look into full circuit GFCI breakers. The attic above both these rooms was insulated along with the living room. The front room has R-30 but the office has an attic floor and could only get R-19 but that is still a great improvement over what it had before.
